Classes
Body and Voice
This class focuses in on concentrating on the two most important tools of acting- your body and your voice. Instead of using both at the same time, this class will focus on the voice and body separately. Students will spend part of the time acting with JUST their voice and part of the time acting with JUST their bodies. The showcase will feature fun and interesting scenes of pantomime and readers theatre that focus on the individual tools of the trade!
Curtain Up!
It's time for the show to begin! Do you enjoy just taking a script and making it come to life? That is exactly what students in this class will do. Students will go through the entire process from auditions to performance at the final day showcase. The extensive resources available through Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre's stock of costumes and props will be used to make this a showcase not to be missed!
Imagination Express

The extensive resources available through Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre's stock of costumes and props will be used to make this a showcase not to be missed!
Music of the Theatre
The world of the theatre has produced some of the most famous and beloved songs of all time. Students in this class learn more about these songs as they develop their skills for performing in musical theatre. The final day showcase will feature selections from what the students have learned while taking this class.
So You Want to Direct?
This class will give students the opportunity to take a drive in the director's seat, learning all the ins and outs of planning and putting together a production. We will learn how to select and study a script, things to look for in casting, scoring and blocking a script for rehearsal, and putting together all the other elements of directing a show. Students will get to direct one another in scenework and show it off in the showcase!
Stage Combat
Ever wondered how actors on a stage can fall, fight, brawl, wrestle or battle with swords and come out unharmed after the show is over? There is a safe way to do this and these are skills that EVERY actor needs. Matthew von Redlich is a certified stage combat instructor, and he will open up the SAFE way to do stage combat to students in this class. The showcase finale will be a demonstration of techniques learned in this class.
Stage Movement
One of the most important aspects of developing a character on stage is in knowing how to move naturally as that character. This class focuses not only on learning basic dance steps associated with musical theatre, but also on moving in a believable way as different characters that might be portrayed on stage. The final day showcase will be a demonstration of some of the dances and characters developed in class that show off what students have learned.
Storybook Theatre
Children with that special spark and energy for "pretending" can begin to develop their theatrical skills as they develop characters, choose and create colorful costumes, props and scenery while working toward producing plays at our final day showcase based on children's stories.
Total Production
